What to Pack for a Trip to Türkiye + Outfit Inspiration
YOU’RE GOING TO TÜRKİYE — YAY! 🇹🇷✨
If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re planning a trip to Türkiye and wondering what to pack and, more importantly, what to wear. Between vibrant cities like Istanbul, dreamy coastal towns, beach clubs, cultural sites, and unforgettable dinners… this is one destination where your wardrobe really needs to do it all.
This guide is designed to help you pack in a way that feels effortless, elevated, comfortable and culturally aware.
Whether you’re joining one of our Group Galavants or planning your own trip to Türkiye, this is your go-to packing list and outfit guide to help you feel confident every step of the way.
What to Know Before Packing for Türkiye
Türkiye is one of those destinations that blends European style with Middle Eastern influence, which means your packing strategy should reflect both.
Here’s the quick breakdown:
In cities like Istanbul, style leans more polished and fashion-forward
Along the coast (like Bodrum or Antalya), it’s relaxed, beachy, and chic
At mosques and religious sites, modest dress is required (covered shoulders and knees, sometimes hair)
The key to packing for Türkiye? Versatility.
Think pieces you can:
Wear during the day, exploring
Dress up for dinner
Layer when needed
And adjust for cultural sites
Pro Tips Before You Start Packing
PRO TIP #1: Copy the packing list at the bottom of this post into the Notes app on your phone so you can easily reference it while shopping and packing.
PRO TIP #2: Want to elevate your looks without buying a whole new wardrobe? I swear by rental services for trips like this.
Rent the Runway is my go-to for statement dresses and flowy pieces (use code RTRALLEP for 40% off two months).
Nuulyis another favorite, especially size-inclusive and great for boho silhouettes. You’ll get $30 off your first month when you use my referral link.

Türkiye MVP’s
1. Flowy Dresses
When it comes to getting dressed in Türkiye, dresses are going to be one of the hardest-working pieces in your suitcase. Think less overly boho and more polished, European summer. I love packing midi and maxi dresses that I can wear with sneakers during the day and then easily dress up with a sandal or heel at night. Istanbul especially has a very fashion-forward feel, so this is your moment to lean into chic silhouettes, fun prints, and elevated fabrics. And as always, if it doesn’t wrinkle… It’s coming with me.
And I’ll say it again, renting on NUULYis a GREAT option for fun vacation dresses that don’t require you to buy a ton of new things - sharing my code for $30 off your first month again (thank me later!)
2. Caftans!
I will forever be a caftan girl, but in Türkiye, I think they really shine in Bodrum and along the coast. This is your beach club, poolside, boat day uniform. It’s that perfect throw-on piece that makes you feel instantly put together while also being the most comfortable thing you own. I’ll be honest that I buy most of my Caftans while I’m abroad and from my favorite Vintage stores in Palm Springs, like The Fine Art of Design and The Frippery, or via my Gal Pal Kelly Golightly’s new line. But when I shop online, I find that Trina Turk, Tuckernuck, and if you do a bit of hunting, you can even find some unique (and very affordable) caftans on Etsy!
3. Matching Sets & Linen Everything
If there’s one thing I find myself reaching for over and over again in Türkiye, it’s a good matching set. There’s just something about throwing on a linen or cotton set and instantly looking put together with zero effort. These are perfect for long days exploring, travel days, or those in-between moments where you want to feel comfortable but still chic. I especially love a linen button-down with wide-leg pants or a vest and trouser combo. It’s giving effortless, it’s giving “I just threw this on,” but in the best way.
4. Bandolier Phone Case
I NEVER travel without a Bandolier phone case. These are fantastic because they have a pouch on the back of the case for your money and ID, so you have everything all in one place. They also have fun clip-onslike this, that hold your AirPods. Wearing this at the airport when your hands are always full is truly a game-changer.
5. A Sunhat
A sunhat isn’t necessarily a must for every part of Türkiye, but it’s definitely a vibe, especially in Bodrum. Perfect for beach clubs, pool days, and boat outings, it adds a little extra to your look while also giving you some much-needed sun protection. Plus, it buys you an extra day or two between hair washes, which we love.
6. Scarves
Scarves are one of those small but mighty items that end up being so useful. You’ll want one for visiting mosques (to cover your shoulders or hair when needed), but they’re also great for adding a little something to a simple outfit or throwing on when you need a break from the sun. I like to shop for my scarves at Nordstrom, Quince, and if you join us on one of our Group Galavants, you’ll go home with your very own custom Galavant Society Scarf.
7. A great pair of Sunglasses
Türkiye is one of those destinations where you’ll feel very put together just by adding a great pair of sunglasses. Between rooftop views in Istanbul, boat days in Bodrum, and early mornings in Cappadocia, you’ll be reaching for them constantly. I always bring wayyy too many sunglasses with me when I travel, but these are always the ones I reach for every day. Also, you’ve gotta check out this Italian-made, woman-owned business.
8. Comfortable Walking Shoes
You are going to walk, a lot. Between cobblestone streets, hills, stairs, and long days exploring, comfortable shoes are non-negotiable. That being said, we’re not sacrificing style here. I always bring a pair of chic sneakers or minimal trainers that go with everything. The key is making sure they’re broken in before your trip… because Türkiye is not the place to test out brand new shoes.
9.A Crossbody or Hands-Free Bag
You’ll be out and about all day, so having a bag that keeps your hands free is key. Whether you’re shopping in the Grand Bazaar, navigating busy streets, or just moving from one spot to the next, you want something that’s easy, secure, and practical.
What to Wear during the Day in Türkiye
An Effortless Maxi Dress
A maxi dress is one of those pieces you’ll reach for again and again in Türkiye. It’s easy, comfortable, and always looks put together with minimal effort. I love having a longer length option for visiting mosques or cultural sites. Look for something lightweight that you can wear with sneakers during the day and dress up later.
Linen button down
A linen or cotton button-down is one of the most versatile pieces you can pack. It’s perfect for layering over a tank, styling with trousers, or throwing on over a dress. It adds that effortless, slightly polished feel, especially in Istanbul where style definitely leans more elevated.
A Variety of Bottoms
I love having a mix of lightweight pants and skirts, but here it’s more about comfort and flexibility than coverage. Wide-leg linen pants are my go-to, they’re breathable, easy to style, and feel elevated without trying too hard. I typically skip heavy denim and stick to pieces that can transition easily throughout the day.
Matching Sets
Think a slightly more tailored or styled outfit, maybe a vest and trouser set, a structured midi skirt with a tank, or a chic co-ord. Istanbul especially has a very fashion-forward feel. It’s nice to have one or two outfits that feel a little more elevated for city days, cute lunches, or rooftop moments.
What to Wear in the Evenings in Türkiye
Wrap for the Evening
A lightweight scarf or wrap is perfect for cooler evenings or when restaurant air conditioning is blasting. It’s an easy layer to toss in your bag and it can double as a sarong, temple cover, or even a travel blanket in a pinch.
An Evening look
What you wear to dinner will depend on whether the night calls for something elevated or more low-key, and in Türkiye, you’ll experience a mix of both. I like having a few versatile pieces that can flex either way. I love this brand for relaxed, effortless evening looks when I want to dress things up just a bit.
A statement two-piece set
Loose, lightweight top-and-bottom sets are one of my go-to choices for dinner while traveling in Türkiye. They feel polished without being fussy, stay comfortable in warm evening temperatures, and photograph beautifully. I love that each piece can be styled separately, giving you multiple effortless dinner looks.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: If you want to elevate your outfits for this trip without overbuying, I highly recommend renting through Nuuly. It’s my favorite rental service for travel; the selection is incredible, the pieces feel modern and wearable, and it’s also much more size-inclusive (owned by Anthropologie and Free People). I rent from them constantly and love how easy it is to experiment with bold, flowy styles that are perfect for India. If you use this link, you’ll get $30 off your first month.
Rent the Runway is another great option, especially if you’re looking for more formal or statement pieces. It’s been a longtime travel favorite of mine, and you can use my code RTRALLEP for 40% off of two months.
What to wear to the Pool in Türkiye
The Best Swimsuit EVER
This is hands-down the suit I reach for again and again. It’s incredibly well made, supportive, and actually stays put (no riding up, ever 🙌). I love how easily it doubles as a bodysuit, styled with linen pants, a skirt, or a button-down for a chic cover-up moment.
Sarong
This brand is a packing dream, their swimsuits are reversible, giving you two looks in one, and many come with matching sarongs to complete the set. It’s basically two swimsuits for the space of one. The sarong is incredibly versatile too: wear it as a wrap, a skirt, or even throw it over your shoulders.
A Sunhat
A wide-brim straw hat is an absolute must for India travel, not just for pool days, but also for sun protection while exploring. It helps keep you cool during sightseeing and instantly elevates any outfit.
A Swimsuit Set
This is one of my favorite travel finds. The top works just as well as a bodysuit, making it easy to style with linen pants or a skirt for daytime exploring or casual dinners. Paired with the coordinating button-down, it becomes a polished cover-up moment that feels intentional, effortless, and perfect for warm-weather travel.
Türkiye Shoes & Accessories
1 . Sandals
These are hands down my favorite travel sandal & come in a bunch of different colors. They're SO comfy! These have been around for a few years, so sometimes sizes are hard to find, but a few different retailers carry them, so shop around.
2.Versatile Sandals
Having a cute sandal to wear from day to night is PERFECT for Türkiye. These are comfortable and can be dressed up or down.
3. White Sneakers
There’s really nothing more classic to travel with than a white sneaker. I love these white sneakers because they are CRAZY lightweight and come in a few different colors.
4. These waterproof Birkenstocks
When I’m visiting a warm destination, these are non-negotiable! They are comfortable for long days touring & they’re PERFECT for Türkiye because when they get dusty & dirty, you can easily rinse them off. PS - they come in SO many colors, and there’s a simpler style too.
5. Hat clip
These are HUGE for me when I travel with a hat. It’s a magnetic clip that attaches to your bag so that you can carry your hat instead of constantly having to wear it.
6. A Statement Evening Bag
A fun , colorful bag for dinners is such a fun way to spice up a look. I LOVE this bag.
7. A Carry-All Bag
I love a slouchy tote bag for carrying around all the things when you’re touring. I like to add on a fun colorful scarf to bags like this to style this up. I’ve got my eyes on this carry-all.
Türkiye Toiletries
Supergoop! SPF
A solid travel sunscreen kit is non-negotiable for a trip to Türkiye, and Supergoop! is hands-down my favorite. These formulas are lightweight, never greasy, and actually sink into your skin (no gloopy SPF here). I love that this set covers face and body. Perfect for packing, pool days, and long sightseeing days in the sun.
ILIA Serum+ SPF 40
I swear by this; it’s my go-to lightweight base when I travel. It gives just enough coverage without feeling heavy, making it perfect for hot destinations when foundation feels like too much. I wear shade Morgat ST 11.5, but I recommend getting color-matched at Sephora or Ulta to find your best fit.
Undereye Patches
These eye patches are a must for long flights or early mornings on the road. They’re perfect for de-puffing, brightening, and refreshing tired eyes in minutes. I love tossing them in my carry-on for a quick pick-me-up before landing or heading out for the day.
Deodorant Wipes
These deodorant wipes are a lifesaver on long sightseeing days when you need a quick refresh. They remove sweat and odor while actually hydrating your skin (no sticky residue), making them perfect to keep in your day bag. I love having a few on hand for mid-day resets, especially in warm weather.
Touchland Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer is an absolute essential for Türkiye; I always carry a few to toss in my tote, crossbody, and carry-on. This one is a favorite because it keeps hands clean without drying them out, and it actually leaves your skin feeling refreshed instead of stripped. Perfect for sightseeing days, markets, and moments when a sink isn’t nearby.
IGK Texture Spray
If you’re trying to streamline your travel hair routine, this will be your new BFF. It’s a salt-free texture spray that adds serious volume and flexible hold, perfect for that effortless “I just left the beach” look, no hot tools or extra products required.
