If I had to describe Provence style in three words, it would be:
Effortless. Feminine. French.
The goal isn't to look overly dressed up; it's to look put together without looking like you tried too hard. Think natural fabrics, beautiful prints, relaxed silhouettes, simple accessories, and pieces that can easily take you from wandering a village to a very long lunch.
As you're packing, you'll want to think about four different moments throughout your trip:

1. Easy Vacation Dresses
If there was ever a destination to live in dresses, it's Provence. Between wandering tiny hilltop villages, sipping wine at vineyards, long lunches in the countryside, and beautiful dinners that stretch well into the evening, you'll be reaching for them constantly. I love packing easy midi and maxi dresses that can be worn with sneakers or sandals during the day and then dressed up with jewelry for dinner. Bonus points if they're wrinkle-resistant because let's be honest... ironing is not happening on vacation.

2. A Lightweight Layer
Even when the days are warm and sunny, September mornings and evenings in Provence can feel cooler, especially when we're dining outside. I always pack at least one lightweight sweater, cardigan, linen button-down, or wrap that I can toss over a dress without ruining the lewk. You may not need it every day, but you'll be very happy you have it when we're lingering over dinner after the sun goes down.
3. Matching Sets & Linen Everything
If Provence had an official vacation uniform, it might just be linen. A linen button-down paired with matching shorts or wide-leg pants is one of those outfits that works for almost everything we're doing. Wear it for exploring a village, a winery lunch, market morning, or an afternoon wandering around on your own. It's comfortable, polished, and exactly the kind of effortless look that feels right at home in the South of France.
4. Bandolier Phone Case
I NEVER travel without a Bandolier phone case. These are fantastic because they have a pouch on the back of the case for your money and ID, so you have everything all in one place. They also have fun clip-ons like this that hold your AirPods. Wearing this at the airport when your hands are always full is truly a game-changer. 5. A Sunhat
A great sunhat just feels MADE for Provence. Beyond looking ridiculously cute while wandering through a market or sipping rosé outside at lunch, you'll be thankful for the extra shade during long days exploring in the sunshine. Plus... it also happens to hide vacation hair beautifully between washes, and that's always a win in my book.
6. A Market Tote
If there is one destination where you need to leave room in your suitcase for a great tote, it's Provence. Between local markets, antique shopping, little boutiques, wine, olive oil, and all the other things you'll inevitably convince yourself need to come home with you, you're going to want something roomy to carry your finds. I love a woven tote or cute canvas bag that packs relatively flat and can double as your personal item on the flight home when your suitcase is mysteriously VERY full. 😂
7. A Chic Scarf
If there was ever a trip to throw a cute scarf into your suitcase, it's Provence. Tie it around your neck, in your hair, onto your bag, or wear it as a little wrap when you need an extra layer. It's one of those tiny accessories that somehow makes a simple dress or linen set feel instantly more put together and takes up approximately zero room in your suitcase. Very French. Very practical. We love her.

8. Comfortable Walking Shoes
Provence is made for wandering... which means your shoes need to be up for the assignment. Between cobblestone streets, hilltop villages, markets, and full days exploring, comfortable shoes are absolutely essential. That said, we aren't sacrificing style. I always pack a pair of chic sneakers (these are my go-to) that work with everything and make sure they're broken in well before the trip. I also swear by these Birkenstocks; they go with me on every trip and are perfect with dresses, linen pants, and just about everything else I'm packing.
9.A Great Exploring
Bag
You'll want a hands-free bag that can comfortably carry your daily essentials while we explore. Think sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, your wallet, and enough extra room for whatever little treasure you inevitably pick up along the way. I usually reach for a crossbody that sits close to my body so I can wander hands-free all day without constantly adjusting a shoulder bag — especially when there is serious market shopping to be done.
What to Wear during the Day in Provence
An Effortless Sundress
A sundress is one of those pieces you'll find yourself reaching for over and over again in Provence. It's an effortless outfit that always looks put together. I love packing styles that can be worn with sneakers or flat sandals during the day and easily dressed up with jewelry for dinner later.
Linen button down
A linen or cotton button-down is one of the most versatile pieces you can pack. It’s perfect for layering over a tank, styling with trousers, or throwing on over a dress. It adds that effortless, slightly polished feel that works so well in Provence and somehow always looks expensive, even when it isn't.
A Variety of Bottoms
Provence can still be quite warm during the day, so breathable fabrics are your best friend. I love packing a mix of linen shorts, flowy skirts, and lightweight pants that can be mixed and matched throughout the trip. I usually leave heavy denim at home and focus on pieces that keep me comfortable while still feeling polished.

What to Wear in the Evenings in Provence
A Light Layer
Even when the days are warm, evenings in Provence can cool off once the sun goes down, especially when you're dining outside. I always toss a lightweight sweater, linen button-down, or wrap into my bag just in case. It's one of those pieces you may not use every night, but you'll be very happy to have it when you do.
A Dinner Dress You Love
Long dinners are one of my favorite parts of being in Provence. Think beautiful countryside restaurants, incredible food, local wine, and absolutely no reason to rush through any of it. I like packing a few dresses that feel a little more special but are still comfortable enough for a long dinner and one more glass of wine.
Something A Little Extra
I always like bringing one outfit that feels a little extra. Maybe it's a colorful matching set, a bold printed dress, or a silky two-piece you've been waiting for the perfect vacation to wear. If you're heading to Paris after Provence, a blazer is one of the easiest pieces to help transition your wardrobe from the countryside to the city. Throw one over a dress, pair it with lightweight trousers, or wear it with a simple tank and sneakers. It instantly makes an outfit feel a little more polished and gives you an extra layer for cooler mornings and evenings in Paris.
A Chic Pair of Trousers
If you're mostly living in dresses and linen in Provence, I would add one great pair of trousers for Paris. They're perfect for museums, shopping, long lunches, and dinners, and you can wear them with everything from sneakers and a simple tee during the day to a blouse and cute sandals at night.
A Slightly Dressier Dinner Look
Paris is the place where I would bring one outfit that's just a little more elevated. You absolutely don't need to go formal, but a beautiful dress, silky set, or chic separates are perfect for a special dinner or cocktail bar. Basically, bring the outfit you've been looking for an excuse to wear.
A Polished Crossbody Bag
You'll still want to be hands-free while you're walking ALL over Paris, but this is where I like to swap my casual daytime tote for something a little more polished. A classic crossbody works with practically everything, keeps your essentials close, and transitions easily from sightseeing and shopping straight into dinner or drinks.

1 . Sandals
These are hands down my favorite travel sandal & come in a few different colors. They're SO comfy! These have been around for a few years, so sometimes sizes are hard to find, but a few different retailers carry them, so shop around.
2.Day to Night Sandals
Having a cute sandal that can take you from sightseeing to dinner is PERFECT for Provence. Dolce Vita and DV By Dolce Vita have some of my favorites that can easily be dressed up or down. I’ve been wearing these all summer; they’re SUPER supportive and coming to Provence with me. And yes, I would still leave your heels at home... cobblestones + heels are simply not a combination we need in our lives.
3. White Sneakers
There’s really nothing more classic to travel with than a white sneaker, especially for long days wandering through Provence's villages and markets. I love these white sneakers because they are CRAZY lightweight, work with dresses, linen pants, and shorts, and come in a few different colors.
4. Easy Everyday Birkenstocks
When I’m visiting a warm destination, these are non-negotiable! They're comfortable enough for long days exploring and PERFECT for Provence because when they inevitably get a little dusty from our countryside adventures, you can easily rinse them off. PS — they come in SO many colors, and there’s a simpler style too.
5. Hat clip
These are HUGE for me when I travel with a hat. It’s a magnetic clip that attaches to your bag so that you can carry your hat instead of constantly having to wear it.
6. A Fun Evening Bag
A fun little bag is one of my favorite ways to make a simple dress feel completely different for dinner. Go colorful, woven, beaded, printed, or a little whimsical; Provence is the perfect place for something with personality. Bonus: a small statement bag takes up almost no suitcase space but can make an outfit feel totally different.
7. A Market Bag
You simply cannot go to Provence without expecting to do a little shopping. I love a roomy tote for market mornings, antique shopping, and all the little things you'll inevitably pick up along the way. A woven or slouchy style feels especially perfect here, and I love tying a colorful scarf around the handle to make it feel a little more fun.

Supergoop! SPF
A solid travel sunscreen kit is non-negotiable for a trip to Provence, and Supergoop! is hands-down my favorite. These formulas are lightweight, never greasy, and actually sink into your skin (no gloopy SPF here). I love that this set covers face and body. Perfect for packing, pool days, and long sightseeing days in the sun.
ILIA Serum+ SPF 40
I swear by this; it’s my go-to lightweight base when I travel. It gives just enough coverage without feeling heavy, making it perfect for hot destinations when foundation feels like too much. I wear shade Morgat ST 11.5, but I recommend getting color-matched at Sephora or Ulta to find your best fit.
Undereye Patches
These eye patches are a must for long flights or early mornings on the road. They’re perfect for de-puffing, brightening, and refreshing tired eyes in minutes. I love tossing them in my carry-on for a quick pick-me-up before landing or heading out for the day.
Deodorant Wipes
These deodorant wipes are a lifesaver on long touring days when you need a quick refresh. They remove sweat and odor while actually hydrating your skin (no sticky residue), making them perfect to keep in your day bag. I love having a few on hand for mid-day resets, especially in warm weather.
Touchland Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer is an absolute essential for Croatia; I always carry a few to toss in my tote, crossbody, and carry-on. This one is a favorite because it keeps hands clean without drying them out, and it actually leaves your skin feeling refreshed instead of stripped.
